December 2011: time budgets for Italian wine

The favorite wine by the Italians during the Christmas and New Year? Red and strictly Italian! And to toast to the end of the meal Italians prefer sparkling wines to champagne. The same line of thought has been applied to Christmas gifts: Italians have decided to give made in Italy wine and liqueurs.

These data have been collected by Enoteca Italiana, a national wine board, an authority on wine, born in 1933.
The 2011 Christmas will be also rembered for the "Moscatomania". Moscato reported a production of 100 million bottles, of which 104 million ready to be shipped. The sweet Piedmont wine will keep company to the best italian wines.

After all, Italians give up to everything, but not to the wine quality. The number of bottles sold in 2011 has been equal to that of 2010, which shows that, compared to a reduction in purchasing power, Italians have decided to give up to many things, except to the quality of the nectar of Bacchus.

The average expenditure for wine is between 10 and 20 euros per bottle for 48% of fans: 22% spend up to 10 euros per bottle, 19% are willing to spend 20 to 30 euros per bottle, 6% between 30 to 40 euros, 2% from 40 to 50 euros, while the percentage of those who are willing to spend more than 50 euros per bottle is 3%.
As far as buying habits, 71% bought in the same place, while 29% look for new ways to save money, addressing, for example, toward the online wine shop formula, a winning choices to save money, but not quality.
