Pairings pandoro, panettone and wine

Christmas Eve dinner. After a sumptuous lunch, comes the dessert time. And here begin the classic opposition between the fan of pandoro and the fan of panettone.
Above all it is a battle between generations, between those who love the classic and sweet taste of the Milan dessert for excellence and who prefer the taste of its Veronese rival. If the panettone is characterized by an intense and bold aroma of raisins, and candies, the pandoro wins for the soft, sweet and intriguing vanilla scent.

If the issue can be easily resolved offering both desserts, the choice to buy Italian wine can be a thorny choice, with fervent disputes between those who prefer a dry sparkling wine and those who favor a sweet wine, such as passito di Pantelleria.
How to orientate in the wine choice?

By and large, the most important Italian oenologists don’t recommend combining, in spite of Italic traditions, the classic dry sparkling wine with panettone and pandoro. The rule to follow should be finding the scent of food in the wine. The important thing is to ensure that the wine does not overwhelm the taste of food and viceversa. In practice we have to identify the aromas of butter, orange peel and raisins, and find them in wine.
If you love dry sparkling wine, choose a bottle of Franciacorta. Although in the pairings among food and wine the winning card is always a personal taste, the right choice.

With the arriving of Christmas there are many wineries, including those online which offers special promotions such as Italian Wine Selection and its attractive Christmas wine promotion: all the Italian wines on the list are 10% of discount. You might as well make a supply of our favorite italian wine because at the end "De gustibus not disputandum est."
