Organic olive oil, a quality choice

Organic is not just a trend, but a lifestyle that fortunately is becoming apparent in the homes of many Italians.
Ended the era of the at “all cost saving”, since many years has affirmed a healthier and balanced lifestyle, based on one of our most important asset: the Mediterranean diet and its products. One of the core Mediterranean diet foods is surely the olive oil, better if we are talking about organic olive oil.
But what differentiate the organic extra virgin olive oil from all other types of oil?

In addition to being a superior quality oil, the organic oil must:
  • To be produced exclusively with organically grown olives
  • It can be only extra virgin (with an acidity of less than 1%) or virgin (with an acidity of less than 2%)
  • All stakeholders in the oil production process must be supervised by an inspection body specifically recognized by the state. To receive the certificate and the title of organic oil, companies have also to fill out a form to be sent to the region and to the selected agency.
  • All operations and movements of goods must to be registered
The oil is the result of environment and nature safeguard, besides being a valuable ally for our health.
There are many prizes and awards aimed to enhancing organic olive oil. Among these, a special mention goes to the ExtraBIO event, reserved to Campania biological oils. Now in its sixth edition, the event ExtraBio has been created in order to give prestige and visibility to the companies which work in the oil branch.

Among the 2011 winners there is also a mill of the Sorrento peninsula, the mill Gargiulo that has won the mention category as Light Fruity.
