Franciacorta, the sparkling wine

Franciacorta is not a champagne, but the Franciacorta is the Italian sparkling for excellence. There is no party in Italy that is not celebrated sipping a glass of this Italian sparkling wine.
Everything starts in the area of Franciacorta, a small piece of land nestled between the Lake Isea and Brescia. It is here that is born the Franciacorta.

The name Franciacorta derives from the French word "curtes francae", that is the small community of Benedictine monks that in the Middle Ages were located close to areas of Lake Iseo and that were exempted from payment of duties since they were dedicated to the territories reclamation and to the education of farmers to the work of the land. In fact, "curtes" were the commercial centers of the time.

While boasting a long wine tradition, it is only in the 60s that the Franciacorta has spread worldwide. It is no coincidence that today the sparkling Franciacorta is considered a direct rival to the famed champagne, thanks to its distribution, not only small wineries. Today you can buy Franciacorta and other Italian wine online!
