Red wine for your health!

Red wines are a great friend against the damage caused by strokes. Strokes are, in fact, caused from a blood rush to the brain due to an occlusion or a rupture of a cerebral vessel spasm, causing varying severity damage, depending on the person affected.

American scientists have published an article on the prestigious scientific journal Experimental Neurology, the results of a study conducted on a mice sample. The rodents were divided into two groups. While on the first group was administered a dose of red wine after a meal, on the other group were not given anything.
Then researchers have induced ischemic stroke in mice, noting that the first group of mice had less damage, with a lower percentage of 40%. It was discovered that red wines, with raspberries, blueberries, peanuts and red grape skins and seeds are rich in resveratrol. This enzyme increases the level of heme oxygenase that reinforces the brain cells protection.
So a glass of good red wine taken regularly after meals is good for health!

Shine with the olive oil

Italian Oil Festival

The First Edition of the Italian Oil Festival will be held from 7 to 9 May in the town of Ponte, province of Benevento in Campania, with the intention to consolidate and spread the cultivation of olive, part of the history of Italy. The initiative, sponsored by Department of Agriculture and Tourism, provides conferences, tasting, discovery of ancient traditions, recreation, music and culinary. So it's a way to highlight the importance of olive oil that has increasingly assumed since antiquity, thanks to its nutritional and healthful quality and because it’s the element that distinguishes the Mediterranean cuisine from around the world. Olive oil benefits

Recent studies have shown that the right variety of foods may reduce the risk of cardio-vascular illness. Mediterranean diet foods, such as olive oil, cereals and fruits are essential to the hearth illness preservation.

To twenty volunteers were asked to make a breakfast rich in extra virgin olive oil, removing for six weeks all medicines and vitamins.
At the end of the experiment, have been identified 98 different genes which engage in greater or lesser extent on the amount of phenol employed.

From Sweden the latest news regarding wine containers. Enough with the usual 0.75 litre bottles, half bottles, now there is the Milestone, comfortable bag with handles and tapper whit the ability of 3 or 5 litres.

The sweet side of the olive oil

The extra virgin olive oil is healthy and tasty oil. The 'liquid gold "is in fact rich in polyphenols, vitamins and carotenoids. It protects against free radicals and aging skin, decreasing the level of blood cholesterol and aiding the digestion.

Extra virgin Olive Oil cake

Ingredients:
3 eggs
250g. sugar
250g. flour
1 cup of yogurt
1 packet of baking powder
1 peel lemon grated
Fill the jar of yogurt to ¾ of extra virgin olive oil

Procedure:
Beat the eggs with the sugar and with the grated lemon. When these are well blended add the yogurt, the extra virgin olive oil and the packet of baking powder.
Bake at 180 degrees in preheated oven for 30-35 minutes.
